The process
L´extimité is the result of a research process during the MA of research in practices
performing arts and visual culture directed by José A. Sánchez.
This research derives from a deep necessity of questioning
myself, re-searching my language as a performer-creator, my needs and interests as
a performer. Me in the world and the world in me.
On one hand my interests as a performer: the How.
And on the other hand my interests in the subject: the What.
Throughout my research, and embodied in this piece, I have achieved
what I consider my findings: the fact that What and How have
intermingled up to the point to generating language by themselves. In spite of
their inherent condition it does not belong to me. It is the audience that hold the
baton subtly and almost unconsciously delivered for them to compose the piece.
It is the audience who de-constructs the performance and themselves.
They become an active public, one that is moved and moves.
The piece is a living structure, a statement of honesty on stage, that
proposes a patchwork trip, that will be joined together differently in the imagination
of each person.
Construction on the naked right in front of failure.
The piece is constantly moving between the micro-macro zoom in and
zoom-out, a way of basting several variants of approach, to the
collective memory, passed by own memory. Privacy, public, everyday life.
Questioning in real time the way I re-present my own research, and my own
body on stage.
Investigating, controlling different ways of being on stage, of the dreaded word
representation, or should I say performing, or just being?
An installation with its own sound space completes L´extimite.
Duration: 45 minutes
Ideas come and go, but what is important is the commitment to a choice
and to its clarity and communicativeness. It´s not about the right idea
or even the right decision, rather it is about the quality of decisiveness.
